According to the antique legend, once a glorious city has become the bone of contention between two powerful gods. The Lord of the Seas Poseidon and the Goddess of Wisdom Athena both wanted the city to be named after them. Zeus decided that each of them should make an offer to the citizens.
Poseidon hit the rocks of Acropolis with his trident and said: “This trident will warn you of upcoming storms. Your city will conquer the seas.”
Athena knelt and touched the ground, and an olive tree sprouted under her hand. “It will give you food, oil, wood, and light. Your city will become a symbol of civilization.”. Despite the fury of the Lord of the Seas, the citizens chose a gift from the Goddess of Wisdom, and since then the city has been called Athens.
These beautiful chess pieces represent a reconstructed conflict of two gods, where the king symbolizes Poseidon, and the queen – Athena. This chess set is a valuable and unforgettable gift for a connoisseur of Greek culture and mythology.
The chessboard is made of high-quality electroplated bronze. The chess pieces are made of zinc alloy using a modern injection moulding technique.
