The book «History of Ukraine-Rus» by Nikolay Arkas

History of Ukraine-Rus is a result of many years of scientific work of the famous historian and public figure Mykola Arkas. The book was first published in 1908 in seven thousand copies, after which it immediately gained popularity thanks to the author’s characteristic, easy, and fascinating manner of storytelling. The book is dedicated to a certain number of historical periods from ancient times to the beginning of the XX century.

After the first edition, all printed copies were sold out in less than thirty days, as a result of which the book received a lot of positive feedback, as an easy-to-learn textbook on the History of Ukraine. In the later Soviet period, the author’s works were accused of amateurism and gained fame as bourgeois-nationalist literature.
