Meteorites - gifts of heaven

In ancient times, meteorites were perceived as something supernatural, a gift from the gods. Scientists suggest that the Temple of Artemis of Ephesus, one of the 7 wonders of the world, was built around a meteorite that was sent to mortals by the lord of Olympus himself, Zeus. The legendary Black Stone, which is mounted in the wall of the Kaaba, a great Muslim shrine, is also probably of meteorite origin. Fortunately, thanks to the Fama company, you don't have to wait until some god decides to bless you with a heavenly stone as a sign of his recognition to get your hands on a piece of the Cosmos. Just place an order on our website.

Meteorites as a gift

Despite the fact that we are smaller than a grain of sand on the beach on the scale of the Universe, we don't often feel the influence of the Cosmos on ourselves. Meteorites remind us that we are only a tiny part of a vast world. We very rarely manage to witness the meeting of these messengers of the Cosmos with the Earth. Meteorites do not fall on our planet every day, and if this happens, then in its remote and uninhabited corners. But some "greetings" from Space have had a simply catastrophic impact on our planet and its inhabitants.

The most famous among the meteorites is, of course, the Tunguska. It fell on June 30, 1908 in Siberia near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River, which gave the meteorite its name. Due to the fact that the Tunguska alien exploded in the Earth's atmosphere at an altitude of 30-40 km, and did not leave a crater, which usually remains when a celestial body collides with the Earth, there are many unscientific theories of varying degrees of creativity about the origin of the Tunguska catastrophe. For example, the legendary group "Metallica" has a video for the song "All Nightmare Long", where according to the plot, Soviet scientists find alien spores at the site of the Tunguska meteorite explosion, with the help of which the Soviet Union seizes power over the whole world. And this is not even the craziest version of what really happened on June 30, 1908!

One of the largest craters is in Mexico. It is so large that scientists only realized in 1978 that it was the result of a meteorite. The meteorite fell about 65 million years ago, and around the same time dinosaurs and many other living creatures became extinct. Therefore, most likely, it was this alien that became a heavenly punishment for most representatives of the flora and fauna of that era.

Perhaps the meteorite that fell on the territory of modern Mexico is not the only celestial body that destroyed most of life on Earth at one time. In Antarctica there is the Wilkes Land crater. Scientists have suggested that this is also a consequence of a meteorite impact. The age of the crater corresponds to the time of the most terrible, even more than the mass death of dinosaurs, extinction, when 96% of all marine species and 73% of terrestrial vertebrate species disappeared from the face of the Earth forever. Most likely, it was the consequences of the meteorite fall that led to this. Thus, we can conclude that meteorites, despite their extraterrestrial origin, have greatly influenced the history and development of the Earth and its inhabitants.

The fall of meteorites, especially large ones, is a rare phenomenon. To date, traces of the fall of about 200 celestial bodies have been found. Therefore, every pebble that broke off from a meteorite is extremely rare and valuable. On the Fama website you can purchase fragments of three meteorites: the meteorites «Seymchan» (Seymchan) and «Sericho» (Sericho), as well as a celestial body that formed the Ternivsky crater near Kryvyi Rih when it fell to Earth. The first two belong to the rarest type of all meteorites (1.5% of the total number) that have ever visited our planet: iron-stone or pallasite.

«Seymchan» was found in 1967 in distant Magadan, where it hid from the eyes and hands of people for 20 thousand years. Initially, it was attributed to the iron type of meteorites, but modern studies have proven its belonging to the rare iron-stone type. «Sericho» was found by chance in 2016 by two brothers who were looking for their runaway camels and found a large meteorite that had fallen. They guessed its celestial origin because there are no rocks and stones in this area and announced their find to the whole world. However, the locals knew about it for a long time, and the elder of one of the villages remembered how he and his brothers, as a child, climbed rocks that turned out to be pieces of the meteorite "Sericho". The Terni crater was formed 280 million years ago. This makes the fragments of the meteorite that remained from the place of its fall by a huge margin the rarest product on our website.

Thanks to the Fama company, you can buy a meteorite as part of the boundless Cosmos, some of which may be the same age as the Earth. It will be part of the interior of your apartment or house, which will remind you of how much we still have to achieve. Or you can give a space alien to a person dear to you. Such a gift will definitely be exclusive, it would be cooler if you could just get a star from the sky.
