Brands and celebrities

The Fama online store has many different, but equally beautiful brands. But this article will not be about them. We wanted to tell about celebrity and brand collaborations and the stories behind them because you can often see them with branded things, for example, with canes. Some of these interactions have become iconic, others have been failures. And some of the collaborations that we will talk about in this article are just an excuse to share something interesting and even funny. However, enough prefaces, let's get started!

Branded things for a gift

1. Michael Jordan and Nike

Probably the most outstanding collaboration in the business history of mankind. Nike began to shoe His Airiness in the long-legendary Air Jordan from the debut season of the great basketball player, and as a result, by 2008 the 23rd model of this series was released. The first Air Jordan I sneakers were red and black, contrary to the NBA rules of the time, which regulated even such a nuance as the color of athletes' shoes. Of course, it was such a business move. After all, although Nike paid a $ 5,000 fine for each appearance of Michael in red and black Jordans, the company increased sales from 870 million to 4 billion dollars a year. Nike eventually developed a personal brand for Jordan, which was also called Air Jordan, but that's a whole other story.
2.Pepsi and Beyonce

Another example of a successful, albeit not so legendary, collaboration between a star and a brand. The singer began collaborating with Pepsi even before the start of her solo career in 2002, but they took their relationship to a new level in 2013. Beyonce became the face of a new advertising campaign, appeared on soda cans and starred in commercials supporting the brand. Pepsi, in turn, allocated $50 million for the singer's creative projects and helped promote her fifth album.
3. Kurt Cobain and Marc Jacobs

Of course, this is not a direct collaboration, but the direct connection between the iconic musician and the famous fashion designer is more than obvious. The lead singer of Nirvana, along with other Seattle bands that became wildly popular in the early 90s, unwittingly introduced a new style into fashion, deliberately untidy and wrinkled. Around the same time, the young talented Marc Jacobs held the position of chief designer at the famous American company Perry Ellis. Inspired by Kurt's image, he created a collection in 1993 in the grunge style. Further events in Jacobs' life developed in this protest style. The collection instantly became iconic, the fashion designer became famous, but Perry Ellis did not appreciate it and removed Mark from his position. However, he did not grieve for long, because then followed the deafening success with the creation of the eponymous brand, which later became famous, and work at Louis Vuitton.
4. LeBron James and Samsung, Beckham and Brylcream

From iconic breakthroughs, let's move on to iconic failures. The first case occurred when Samsung, in a fierce competitive race with the iPhone, decided to advertise the new Samsung Galaxy Note III with the help of the famous basketball player LeBron James. For this case, the athlete got his hands on a fresh smartphone. And everything was going well until the technology failed LeBron, and he decided to complain about it on Twitter. This is how 12 million people, James' followers, learned about the problems of the phone that the basketball player was called to praise.

The second anecdotal case happened with David Beckham, when he became the face of the British brand Brylcreem, which produces all kinds of creams and gels for men's hairstyles. The company's choice was absolutely logical, because David was the biggest fashionista in Albion, whose constantly changing hairstyles were discussed no less than his baldness and overhangs. The problem arose at the moment when Becks decided to once again drastically change his image and shaved his head bald... But consumers reasonably decided that a shaved man advertising hair cream is as convincing as a skinny vegan calling for steak. And the British brand's sales fell by 25%.
5.Bonus: Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and their war

Famous actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are connected by the same friendship as their comic alter egos, Deadpool and Wolverine. In public, their relationship is expressed in the fact that they constantly joke about each other on social networks. Sometimes quite harshly, so it was like a real war of words. And once the actors decided to make a joint video with the loud name "Truce". To do this, they shot commercials for each other. Ryan shot a stunning short film about Jackman's coffee "Laughing Man", and Hugh had to respond with the same about the gin "Aviation", whose face was Reynolds. What came of it, you better see for yourself.
