Shaven-headed, muscular and dressed all in black, Nicola Begotti looks more like the lead singer of a rock band than the commercial director of an old family company that produces lace umbrellas and inlaid canes.
The Pasotti Ombrelli brand was founded in 1956 by Nicola Begotti's grandmother, Ernesta. Together with his mother Eva, they form a duo that runs the family business. The company, with 17 employees, creates handmade accessories for top celebrities such as Johnny Depp, Rihanna, Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lopez, as well as for buyers in key foreign countries, including China.
Gift umbrellas
The 36-year-old Begotti got involved in the family business quite early. According to him, making umbrellas is his life's work. From the age of three or four, he was constantly in the workshop, watching the process.

Like her grandson, Ernesta took up umbrella making at an early age. In 1943, after the capitulation of Italy and the occupation of the northern part of the country by the Nazis, she moved to Milan. At the age of 14, Ernesta found work in a workshop that made umbrellas. She mastered the craft and started her own business.
Today, Begotti, with the help of her grandmother, father, mother, brother Andrea and his girlfriend Xenia, is engaged in online business promotion. Begotti emphasizes that Pasotti remains a family business, and therefore the roles of family members may change from time to time.
Begotti has brought his own gothic flavor to the brand, which attracts the attention of a younger audience. Umbrellas and canes with spiked skulls, brass knuckles and deer antlers - these are just a few items that have already become Pasotti's calling card.
Today, the company produces about 35-45 thousand umbrellas per year. You can see and buy Pasotti umbrellas in our boutique.
