Handbook for admirers of sailing was prepared and published by a shipyard owner and aficionado of yachts, Georgy Vasilyevich Esch.
As the author himself put it in the foreword, where the art of sailing attracted more and more admirers of this sport and the numbers of yacht clubs was increasing, to create a detailed textbook aiming “to provide instructions of all sort and prevent mistakes, upon which someone unprepared may so easily stumble.
On the other hand, it is possible that many country people, immediately as they fall in love with the sport of sailing, can become eager to get into details of this activity and experience the pleasure of it — still, most of them know nothing about buying a ship, fitting it or navigating it.” Handbook for admirers of sailing comprises most variegated bits of information on the sport of sailing.
This book truly catches the reader’s attention from the first glance. The book’s cover was created using a combo of natural blue Italian leather and deep gold embossing. It is luxuriously decorated with three-level volumetric embossing, as well as gold embossing. Composite French binding is the sturdiest binding technology of all, and here it is performed in strict compliance with the antique traditions. The book’s spine combines blind and gold embossing. The book edges are hand-polished and hand-painted in an artistic way with gold. A velvet case is provided.
