Expensive gift – is always a delicate topic. Someone avoids such gifts, someone believes that they should be given only on special occasions, and someone even considers them a universal solution in any situation. We decided to figure out who, how and under what circumstances you can give expensive gifts.
Elite gifts
Let's note right away that expensive gifts should not be given to everyone in a row, even if your finances allow you to do so. Under what circumstances is it appropriate to give such gifts?
1) Feel free to give expensive gifts to your loved ones and relatives, as well as to those who surround you every day: colleagues, friends.
2) Choose a valuable gift for significant events, such as an anniversary or wedding.
3) An expensive gift is appropriate if you want to emphasize the solemnity of the occasion or your attitude towards the person.
Don't forget about a sense of tact. Don't give too expensive gifts if you know that this will put the person in an awkward position. Also, note that by giving an expensive gift once, you have set the bar. If next year on a similar holiday you give a cheaper gift, it may be seen as disrespect or a sign that you are not doing well.
Remember that choosing the perfect gift is only half the battle. It is also important to present it with dignity. Particular attention should be paid to the packaging of the gift, because it is the first thing the person giving the gift will see. Poor packaging or its complete absence can nullify all efforts to select a gift. In addition, do not forget to remove the price tag from the gift and throw away the receipt. The only exception may be household appliances that are covered by a warranty.
When presenting a gift, you should not tell how much it cost you or how much time you spent looking for it, even if you really chose it for a long time and carefully. After such a tirade, you will undoubtedly be considered ill-mannered and narcissistic. And in no case do not name the price of the gift, even if you are very much asked for it.
Do not rush to give a present in the hallway. Presenting a gift should not be careless. You do not want to cross out all your efforts with a sloppy "Hold on, this is for you"? As a sign of respect and special attention, the gift is presented, holding it with two hands, with a slight bow, with the exception of small objects that can be held with one hand. Be sure to accompany your gift with a greeting and warm wishes. It is also worth saying a few words about why you chose this particular gift and why, in your opinion, it suits the recipient.
In a business environment, an overly expensive gift may be inappropriate and viewed as a bribe or coercion. It is best to give such a gift face-to-face so as not to embarrass the recipient and not give unnecessary reasons for envy to colleagues or acquaintances. If you are giving a gift to a business partner through your employees or a courier, make sure that the gift is not impersonal: write the greetings by hand and accompany the gift with a personal call.
And most importantly: do not forget that a gift presented with a smile becomes twice as valuable. Don't miss the opportunity to please your recipient twice: when you give him the gift and when he opens it. After all, positive emotions - this is the main purpose of a gift.
